A free, open source Flash player. Lightspark is an LGPLv3 licensed Flash player and browser.100% safe download lightspark. Then I tried to install lightspark (for AVM2). BTW if you just want a working flash for mozilla, installing the adobe one from their site into firefox is very easy. As most of you already know, the Adobe Flash Player comes with many security problems that many are trying to avoid. This is the reason why some users are looking to find some alternative applications for Flash Player. “Is there any good alternative to Adobe Flash Player. I found free (free as in freedom) ones like Gnash or Lightspark but they seem to be no longer developed and doesn’t. Here's hoping someone has managed to get any output other than a black box (where the flash content should be) with Lightspark on Firefox, Iron or Chrome browser? Downloading.swf files and opening locally with Lightspark does not work for me either at the moment (with lightspark-git 0.42 package from AUR). Just press Ctrl + Alt + T on your keyboard to open Terminal. When it opens, run the commands below. Sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sparkers/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install lightspark browser-plugin-lightspark For 13.10.
There are two types of browser plugins, based on the plugin API they use:
- Netscape plugin API (NPAPI): these plugins work in some smaller browsers (Firefox and Chromium do not support these plugins).
- Pepper plugin API (PPAPI): these plugins work in Chromium, Opera and Vivaldi. (Firefox does not support these plugins).
Most plugins on this page are NPAPI-only, unless noted otherwise.

Adobe Flash Player
Warning: Adobe Flash Player support ended on 31 December 2020. As a result, the NPAPI and PPAPI plugins are no longer supported in any browser. Additionally, the project will no longer receive any bug fixes or security updates. [1]
An older standalone version can be installed with the flashplayer-standaloneAUR package. This package predates the hard coded end-of-life clock being inserted in Flash Player and therefore continues to work.
Gnash
Warning: Gnash is not actively maintained.[2] The final release was in 2012.
Gnash is a free (libre) alternative to Adobe Flash Player. It is available both as a standalone player for desktop computers and embedded devices, as well as a browser plugin, and supports the SWF format up to version 7 (with versions 8 and 9 under development) and about 80% of ActionScript 2.0.
Gnash can be installed with the gnash-gitAUR package.
Lightspark
Lightspark is another attempt to provide a free alternative to Adobe Flash aimed at supporting newer Flash formats. Lightspark has the ability to fall back on Gnash for old content, which enables users to install both and enjoy wider coverage. Although it is still very much in development, it supports some popular sites.
Lightspark can be installed with the lightsparkAUR or lightspark-gitAUR package.

Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator written in Rust. It runs natively as a standalone application, and on all modern browsers through the use of WebAssembly. While still being under active development, basic ActionScript 1.0/2.0 support is in place and improving; ActionScript 3.0 support is forthcoming.
Ruffle can be installed with one of the ruffle-gitAUR or ruffle-nightly-binAUR packages.
Java (IcedTea)
Note: Both Java plugins are NPAPI-only and thus do not work in Chromium, Opera and Firefox.
To enable Java support in your browser, you have two options: the open-source OpenJDK (recommended) or Oracle's proprietary version. For details about why OpenJDK is recommended see [3].
To use OpenJDK, you have to install the IcedTea browser plugin, icedtea-web.
If you want to use Oracle's JRE, install the jreAUR package.

Troubleshooting
Firefox: plugins are installed but not working
A common problem is that the plugin path is unset. This typically occurs on a new install, when the user has not re-logged in before running Firefox after the installation. Test if the path is unset:
If unset, then either re-login, or source
/etc/profile.d/mozilla-common.sh
and start Firefox from the same shell:Retrieved from 'https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Browser_plugins&oldid=660568'
The Lightspark virus (also found as the Lightspark Player Pro virus, Light Spark virus, Lightspark 0.5.3-git, Lightspark Team virus, Lightspark Pro virus, etc.; though not technically a computer virus) is potential malware categorized as adware, a browser hijacker, and spyware that uses aggressive marketing techniques (browser redirects/auto install) and installs itself onto a Microsoft Windows computer system and attaches to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Internet Explorer as a browser add-on, browser helper object (BHO), and extension with or without user consent.
Once Lightspark malware is installed, the Media Player program will install third-party software such as Trovi Toolbar and Social Privacy (blocks access to the internet), attempt to display targeted advertisements and offers for searched items or currently viewed products on retail websites, and will change internet browser settings. This may cause browser redirects to trovi.com,search.conduit.com, and other websites.
Lightspark displays pop-up and pop-under advertisements that may redirect users to suspicious websites including downloaddino.com and prompts an advertisement that says “Please install Lightspark Player Pro to continue” or “Update needed to continue.” Some ads appear form the bottom right of an open internet browser window with targeted coupons and that may say “Deals” on the corner of the pop-up, alike the advertisement in the image above. Some of these advertisements may also be displayed by third-party software.
Sec_error_ocsp_old_response. Lightspark malware and third-party items have also been reported to submit collected user information to third-party marketing and mailing lists without user consent. Some users have reported unwanted email spam, junk mail, and have even complained of unwanted telephone calls from telemarketers concerning their recent browser activity and history.
The Lightspark Player virus will allow third-party malware to infect a computer system if a user is not paying attention during the install process as pictured above.
How does Lightspark malware get onto a computer?
Lightspark Player often bundles with third-party freeware and shareware, as well as torrents from websites such as download.com and thepiratebay. Lightspark Player Pro is also aggressively marketed through a serious of “looping” or redirecting websites that may install the software once a user lands on a certain page or clicks a button or suggest that the software is needed.
In some cases users are given the opportunity to accept or decline an offer to install Lightspark Player Pro and other items; however, the request to decline the offer is often ignored or presented in a very confusing manner.
Lightspark can also be manually and voluntarily downloaded from a variety of unethical sources including the company website.
